Benefit Ride and Classic Car Show for my friend.

My friend Ernie Bennett who is battling cancer is having a benefit ride and classic car show here in Florida. There is also going to be live music and entertainment after the ride. This is for a great cause and to help his family out because he will not be able to work while he is in treatment for a year or more.  For more information, please visit http://www.erniebennett.com/

You will also see the site on my blog roll.

Wow, got some great responses for ecommerce system.

A few days ago I posted a discussion on LinkedIn about eCommerce platforms and software to see what some people think. I got a lot of ideas and opinions. Mostly people were talking about Magento, however there were a lot of others. Of course this was very informal so no one should ever take the advice of a bunch of strangers. However it does show one thing, that there are a ton of options out there when you decide to build a eCommerce store.

Moving from OSCommerce to Magento

I have decided to move www.thebroshop.com from a OSCommerce system to Magento. This is mostly due to my frustrations with OSCommerce as a ecommerce system. Mostly due to SEO or Search Engine marketing but also because of the code base. Any time I need to make changes to the code, it is a pain. Plus I would like to measure the performance, features and codebase of Magento so that I can compare this with NetSuite. I use NetSuite with clients on a regular basis and because of this, and the size of the companies, I need more enterprise type ecommerce systems that I can offer opinions on.

My plan is to post the progress of the move and any problems, concerns that I have while making the change.

GJS Consultants Company Blog is live!

I've finally taken the time to move the blog to the GJS web servers. This blog is ran on dasBlog, which is an asp.net solution that doesn't require a database, which is pretty cool. It is and xml solution and a pretty creative one. Since this is right before the July 4th holiday and 4:30pm on a Friday at that, I will make it short.

I'm going to use this blog to talk about development, design, online marketing, NetSuite, Magento, Drupal, ecommerce and all sorts of other stuff that I run into on a regular basis.
